Our helpline is an emergency mobile number designed exclusively for the use of the patients of Cabinet d’orthodontie BECKER & Associés.

Please note the following explanations:

Tooth sensitivity may occur in the early hours following each orthodontic appointment. This discomfort caused by the necessary tension between the appliance and the teeth is increased by mastication, and is expected during a few days after each appliance activation. Its degree and length will vary significantly from one person to another. If the discomfort persists, the patient may use the analgesic drug (painkiller) prescribed by our orthodontist when the appliance was first positioned on the teeth.

If this is not enough to alleviate the pain: dial the HELPLINE:

The frictions from the orthodontic appliance components, especially during the first activations, may generate irritations of oral mucosa and mouth ulcers (lips, cheeks, tongue, gengiva). Use orthodontic wax in this case to eliminate friction and the musoca will heal in +/- two days.

If this is not enough to alleviate the pain, dial the HELPLIN:

WIf the wire has actually left the bracket, it is possible in the first arch sequences to re-introduce it in the orthodontic tube with a tweezer (playing with its elasticity). Sometimes, in the course of the treatment, the wire gets progressively too long and extends at the back of the last bracket, causing a slight posterior irritation of the cheek. It is then possible for you to cover it with orthodontic wax.

If this is not enough to alleviate the pain, dial the HELPLIN:

The ligatures are due to fix and maintain the arch in the required slot base of each bracket, whether in classic vestibular or lingual technique. However, they may occasionally break and irritate the lip, the cheek or the tongue. In this case, you may push the end of the faulty ligature with pliers or tweezers and bend it alongside the wire or alternatively, apply temporarily orthodontic wax. In either case, when all elastomeric and metallic ligatures can be removed completely.

It is not an emergency – you can contact then us during regular open hours. .

Following a clash at sport for example or due to mastication of hard food, a bracket may come loose or simply hang from the arch. If the bracket irritates you slightly, you may cover the bracket with orthodontic wax.

It is not an emergency – you can contact then us during regular open hours.

If the bracket hurts you strongly with acute pain despite application of orthodontic wax: dial the HELPLINE .
