Priority careAfter a blow or a fall. The sooner the tooth is treated, the greater the chances of keeping it. Contact us without delay.
Priority careA swollen gum or cheek, an unpleasant taste in the mouth. Infection responds well when it is treated quickly.
Priority careNo pain, but the tooth remains fragile. A scheduled appointment in the following days is enough to re-cement it properly.

First steps
These steps are no substitute for an examination: they limit the damage until you are seen. If in doubt, call us — we will point you to the right care.
Do not clean it by rubbing and do not touch the root: hold it by the crown. Keep it in milk or in saline solution, never in water, and contact us immediately. How quickly it is treated determines the chances of reimplantation.
Keep the fragment in milk or saline solution and bring it to the appointment: it can sometimes be bonded back on. Rinse your mouth with lukewarm water and avoid chewing on that side.
An ordinary painkiller can bring relief while you wait for the appointment. Do not place aspirin or a tablet directly on the gum: it burns the tissue without acting on the pain. Avoid applying heat to the area, which makes inflammation worse.
Swelling signals an active infection that must be assessed quickly. Do not pierce it and do not apply heat. If the swelling interferes with breathing or swallowing, or comes with a high fever, call 112.
Keep the piece, clean it with water and bring it to the appointment. Do not stick it back yourself with shop-bought glue: this often makes proper re-cementing impossible and can condemn the supporting tooth.
A wire sticking out can be dealt with using a little orthodontic wax placed on the part that is rubbing. Never cut a wire yourself. Call the clinic that looks after your treatment for a repair appointment.
